Seth Rogan inspiration for most popular cat name in Canada

Finn for the puppies and Seth for kitties.

Those were this year’s most popular names chosen by Canadian pet owners with dogs and cats.

Finn refers to Finn Wolfhard, who plays the role of Mike in the Netflix hit Stranger Things, and pet owners chose Seth after comedic actor Seth Rogan, who was involved in a 2018 campaign for Vancouver’s transportation network, TransLink.

According to Rover.com, which released its 2019 list of most popular pet names on Tuesday, Canadian pet parents were inspired to name their animals after Canadian musicians, athletes and television show characters.

Drake remained one of the top names and Kawhi and Leonard also premiered as top choices, following the Toronto Raptors’ championship victory this year.

“The names we give our pets provide a peek into our passions, aspirations, happy places and guilty pleasures, reinforcing what we know at Rover to be true — our pets are as unique as the names we lovingly bestow on them,” said Rover spokesman Kate Jaffe.

There was a 200% increase in canines named Arya and Snow — taken from the Game of Thrones. RuPaul continued to inspire cat names such as Scarlett, Trixie, Jinx and Vixen.

Last year’s legalization of cannabis also saw the introduction of the name Mary Jane for cats and Stoney for dogs.
